This doesn’t really affect me at all. I wish it had been considered a few years ago so I didn’t have to go down to the alley between Bullwinkle’s and that Somali copier place to get a shady fake ID but nonetheless here we are.

A bill has been proposed to stop binge-drinking by lowering the drinking age in bars and restaurants to 18. It would also give 16 and 17-year-olds the ability to drink in a restaurants with legal guardians.

In an interview with KARE11, the author of the proposal State Representative Phyllis Kahn said,

It’s the thought to get people to drink under a responsible, controlled situation rather than going out in the backyard with their friends,” Kahn told KARE. “You gradually get people used to drinking; first with their parents, which has got to be the most controlled situation I can think of.

And of course, MADD has a problem with it. I didn’t really do my research to see if this has been tried before but I’m betting that it has and I don’t really see much of a chance of it being passed.

What do you guys think?
